((It doesn&#8217;t help that they&#8217;re named for <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ralph_124C_41%2B\" target=\"_blank\">a lousy writer<\/a>.)) ((The Nebula awards, which are chosen by writers, are more meaningful, but only slightly: in 1971, Gene Wolfe and R.A. Lafferty, the best writer and the most original writer of our time, both lost to Noah Ward.)) It&#8217;s hardly worth all the histrionics.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 A useful term: &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gong_farmer\" target=\"_blank\">gong farmer<\/a>.&#8221; (Via <a href=\"https:\/\/profmondo.wordpress.com\/2015\/04\/15\/free-to-be-in-agreement-with-me\/\" target=\"_blank\">Professor Mondo<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Yesterday was the twelfth anniversary of the launch of my first weblog.
