I discovered that the local community college has a well-maintained garden which includes a good selection of prairie plants and others adapted to Kansas extremes.<\/span>1<\/sup><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

I was particularly interested in the Penstemons, some of which are native to Kansas. I started a few from seed this year, but mine probably won’t bloom until next year.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

And then there was this curious thing:<\/p>\n

A couple up the street from me have an enormous garden in their yard, which I visited with camera in hand this weekend.<\/p>\n
