However, careful management has eliminated most of the pesky wildflowers, so that nothing distracts visitors from the splendid displays of <em>Toxicodendron radicans<\/em> throughout the park.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/shuffly.net\/zoop\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Toxicodendron-radicans-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/shuffly.net\/zoop\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Toxicodendron-radicans-2-640x480.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-34511\" srcset=\"https:\/\/shuffly.net\/zoop\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Toxicodendron-radicans-2-640x480.jpg 640w, https:\/\/shuffly.net\/zoop\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Toxicodendron-radicans-2-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/shuffly.net\/zoop\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Toxicodendron-radicans-2-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/shuffly.net\/zoop\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Toxicodendron-radicans-2-1200x900.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The same drive toward tidiness has also simplified the flora of the fields east of the park. Formerly, one would sometimes stumble across <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/tancos\/14981262334\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Mentzelia<\/em><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/tancos\/14981259084\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>nuda<\/em><\/a>, for instance, or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/tancos\/17706756443\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Delphinium carolinianum<\/em><\/a>, but gradually such conspicuous species disappeared. A few still remain, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/tancos\/35525088651\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Oenothera rhombipetala<\/em><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/tancos\/35268170640\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Dalea villosa<\/em><\/a>, but if current trends continue, eventually the area will be just neat and tidy grass.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In years past one occasionally found such plants as argemone and corydalis in Wichita&#8217;s Sedgwick County Park.
