Creepy, scary anime<\/strong><\/p>\n 1. Denno Coil<\/em><\/strong>, episode 19 \u2014 The series becomes darker and more intense in its second half. This episode, in which Yasako and Fumie are besieged by “illegals” while Kyoko’s cyberbody wanders in an obsolete space, is surprisingly scary for a show that began so playfully.<\/p>\n 2. Mushishi<\/em><\/strong>, episode 4 \u2014 All of the stories in Mushishi<\/em><\/strong> are strange. A few are nightmarish, like this one about dreams.<\/p>\n 3. Divergence Eve<\/em><\/strong>, episode 8 \u2014 The series is creepy from beginning to end, and I could reasonably pick any episode for this list. The eighth has perhaps the eeriest scene, in which Leblanc gives Misaki a tour of a room with unsettling specimens.<\/p>\n 4. Vampire Princess Miyu OVA<\/em><\/strong>, episode 2 \u2014 Do you like dolls?<\/p>\n 5. Serial Experiments Lain<\/em><\/strong>, episode 12 \u2014 Alice visits Lain’s home.<\/p>\n 6. Hakaba Kitaro<\/em><\/strong>, episode 3 \u2014 Forget carnivorous plants.
