The former two are perfect-bound, which makes it difficult to scan entire pages without breaking the spine. Consequently, I&#8217;ll be focusing on the <strong><em>Newtype<\/em><\/strong> issues. (I&#8217;m sure Steven is disappointed, since the <strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/denbeste.nu\/Chizumatic\/else\/worst.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dragon Half<\/a><\/em><\/strong> manga was running in <strong><em>Dragon&#8217;s<\/em><\/strong> back pages.)<\/p>\n<p>Before I start on <strong><em>Newtype<\/em><\/strong>, here&#8217;s a look at <strong><em>Vversion<\/em><\/strong> ((Or <strong><em>V Version<\/em><\/strong>, or <strong><em>Wersion<\/em><\/strong>, depending on how you interpret the flag.)), devoted primarily to OVAs. It&#8217;s 132 pages, including the covers, and roughly half of it is glossy color.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/shuffly.net\/zoop\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/vv-1290-toc.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"aligncenter\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/shuffly.net\/zoop\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/vv-12-90-yohko.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"aligncenter\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Devil_Hunter_Yohko\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Devil Hunter Yohko<\/a><\/em><\/strong> was the first anime released in America by ADV back around 1992. I saw the first few episodes some years back, and I can&#8217;t recommend it, even though Aya Hisakawa (Sailor Mercury, Chloe, Mune-Mune) was Yohko&#8217;s voice actress. The first episode was nearly pornographic, as I recall, and the next two were hit-and-miss. I wouldn&#8217;t mind watching a show about Yohko&#8217;s Pansy Yokum-ish grandmother Madoka, though. Trivia: Akiyuki Shinbo directed the sixth episode.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/shuffly.net\/zoop\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/vv-1290-borg.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"aligncenter\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/shuffly.net\/zoop\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/vv-12-90-iczer.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"aligncenter\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I believe this is <strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.animenewsnetwork.com\/encyclopedia\/anime.php?id=682\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Iczer Reborn<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, also known as <strong><em>Iczer 3<\/em><\/strong>. According to ANN:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Begins with Iczer 1 battling Neos Gold. Iczer 1 gives a plot summary of the 1st anime, apparently she defeated Big Gold, Neos Gold&#8217;s mom. The fight ends in a draw. Iczer 1 returns to the planet she was created on, while Neos Gold reveals that their rematch will be on earth. Neos Gold suddenly has 4 followers: Fiber, Insect, Golem &#038; Bigro. Since both Iczer 1 &#038; Neos Gold are too weak to fight, they send their minions to do their fighting for them. Iczer 3 is the littlest sister in the Iczer line of robot-like fighters. On earth, Nagisa. Iczer 3 meets up with her on a space station. Fiber uses giant insects to destroy much of earth &#038; the space station. Iczer 3 defeats her, &#038; the series starts. At first, the humans don&#8217;t trust Iczer 3, because of her youth &#038; super-impulsiveness. Later, they have no choice but to rely on her &#038; Iczer-Robo, a robot that can only be powered by Nagisa, although it is never explained why.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Got that?<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/shuffly.net\/zoop\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/vv-12-90-bbg.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"aligncenter\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/shuffly.net\/zoop\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/vv-1290-fred.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"aligncenter\" \/><br \/>\n<a class=\"lightbox\"  title =\"Fred?\" href=\"http:\/\/shuffly.net\/zoop\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/vv-1290-fred.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/shuffly.net\/zoop\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/vv-1290-fred-469x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"Fred?\" width=\"469\" height=\"600\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-7084\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/shuffly.net\/zoop\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/vv-1290-story.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"aligncenter\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The first page of what looks like a short story.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/shuffly.net\/zoop\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/vv-12-90-bible.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"aligncenter\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This is from the &#8220;Cartoon Bible&#8221; section.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/shuffly.net\/zoop\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/vv-1290-manga.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"aligncenter\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There a a couple of brief mangas bound into the magazine.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/shuffly.net\/zoop\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/vv-12-90-scramble.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"aligncenter\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Most of the magazines have a section for fan art \u2014 I think that&#8217;s what this is.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/shuffly.net\/zoop\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/vv-12-90-press.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"aligncenter\" \/><\/p>\n<p>From the &#8220;Future Scope&#8221; section.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/shuffly.net\/zoop\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/vv-1290-chiris.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"aligncenter\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/shuffly.net\/zoop\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/vv-12-90-licca.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"aligncenter\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/myanimelist.net\/anime\/9792\/Licca-chan_Fushigi_na_Fushigi_na_Yunia_Monogatari\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Licca-chan Fushigi na Fushigi na Yunia Monogatari<\/a><\/em><\/strong> is the first of a franchise based on a doll.
