Every single one was dead by midsummer. I spotted these for sale this past weekend. (It is possible to keep some species of rhododendron alive in Kansas in the right spot, but it&#8217;s not easy, and they don&#8217;t flourish.)<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->My good camera is in the shop at the moment, so I visited Botanica with my toy camera yesterday evening.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/shuffly.net\/zoop\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/051413allium.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/shuffly.net\/zoop\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/051413allium-456x600.jpg\" alt=\"Allium\" width=\"456\" height=\"600\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-9862\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/shuffly.net\/zoop\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/051413dianthus2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/shuffly.net\/zoop\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/051413dianthus2-554x600.jpg\" alt=\"Dianthus\" width=\"554\" height=\"600\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-9863\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/shuffly.net\/zoop\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/051413rose.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/shuffly.net\/zoop\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/051413rose-476x600.jpg\" alt=\"Harrison&#039;s Yellow\" width=\"476\" height=\"600\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-9866\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/shuffly.net\/zoop\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/051413tulips.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/shuffly.net\/zoop\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/051413tulips-600x305.jpg\" alt=\"Tulips\" width=\"600\" height=\"305\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-9867\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is the reward tulips get for their spectacular display earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/shuffly.net\/zoop\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/051413Paulownia1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/shuffly.net\/zoop\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/051413Paulownia1-600x525.jpg\" alt=\"Paulownia\" width=\"600\" height=\"525\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-9864\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On the way home I came across a paulownia in full bloom. All the flowers on the tree were at least ten feet high, out of close-up range.
