Yes, people actually did use 8-inch discs back in prehistoric times. Floppies really were floppy.
two thoughts occur to me. First, have you considered selling them on ebay? a box of mint condition 5 1/4 floppies might actually be worth something. I know I kind of want one.
Second, was there a 5 1.4 drive lying around? I still have some old discs that I want to find out what they are storing afer all these years. maybe my masterpiece grade school essay or my old Turtle code.
We sold most of the ancient floppies along with the hardware that used them years ago. I’m going to hang onto the remainder, which are far from mint condition.
We went directly from 8-inch to 3.5-inch, bypassing the 5.25 discs, so I’m afraid we never had that size drive. Sorry.
