I had been planning to purchase the the first few discs of Soul Eater when my budget permits. However, if you force me to endure the preview of the SE dub every time I watch an episode of Baccano!, I might change my mind. ((Yes, I know ways around this, but it’s still inexcusable. Also, every time I see the unskippable antipiracy notice, I feel a sudden strange urge to make illegal copies of every DVD I own.))

I don’t know which is more depressing: the number I don’t recognize, or the number that I do.

Update: Raiga in the comments links to a spreadsheet with explanations.

Naming your kids after anime characters is a dumb idea, but it’s no worse than calling them “Jimi Hendrix” and “Janis Joplin,” as did one erstwhile neighbor.
Some of those I don’t get. Why “Te” for CBD May?
As to “Ni” for Shinobu, I guess it’s for “Ninja Nonsense”.

Just gonna leave that there.
Raiga, I don’t know whether to be disappointed in having a cheat sheet, or relieved that there really was a reason I wasn’t getting several of these. I knew I was in trouble when I got to Kuroko down at Tl. I guessed her relationship right away, but it made it obvious that they weren’t restricting it to names of characters or series.
Ninja Nonsense is Ninin ga Shinobuden, so yes, it had to be Ni for Shinobu.
The entry for Yurie of Kamichu! is brilliant.
I note that there tends to be a bias towards recent series. Only a few are older than the switch to digital animation.
Ed, I’ve seen a music video version set to Tom Lehrer’s “The Elements”. It was made around 10 years ago, and the examples were from the 90’s and earlier.

Years ago I made an AMV that showed (among other things) what fun you can have with ammonium nitrate laced with a few select metal hydrides. All in good fun as long as you have all you federal paperwork in order….
