I never could get comfortable with Noir. It starts out OK, but the unreality of the impervious gungirls and their bloodless piles of faceless goons got to me after a while.
Of all the gun-crazy animes, only Cowboy Bebop‘s directors got what I feel is *necessary* for realistic all-conquering gunfighters – they cheat. Shamelessly. No running down the middle of streets, no straight-up dueling, just shoot everything that can see you, before they see you, and preferably in the back. From cover.
