It looks so much like a teasel. And yet it is not.
I was familiar with Rattlesnake Master (Eryngium yuccifolium) before moving here, but had never seen Leavenworth eryngo before. (I know it as Leavenworth eryngo, I guess some people call it sea holly? Sea holly seems an illogical name when you’re hundreds of miles from the nearest ocean, and the plant is not a holly.)
I should really get some for my yard. It’s an interesting and attractive plant, and good for the bees.
