It is worth noting, though, that the scriptwriter for the FP remake is reported to be J. Michael Straczynski, the man behind Babylon 5, who has proven himself both skilled and suitably respectful of tradition. Word on the ‘net is that he demanded, and received, certain stipulations in the contract that should give him some extra control over the story. (He can do this because he is now considered an “A-list” screenwriter after Clint Eastwood ended up directing “Changeling,” his most recent movie. Babylon 5, being TV, doesn’t count for much in Hollywood.) However, I don’t see it on JMS’s IMDB profile, so maybe it isn’t firm. Still, if it’s going to be done, better in his hands than anyone else’s.
