Weekend photography I

I discovered that the local community college has a well-maintained garden which includes a good selection of prairie plants and others adapted to Kansas extremes.1

I was particularly interested in the Penstemons, some of which are native to Kansas. I started a few from seed this year, but mine probably won’t bloom until next year.

And then there was this curious thing:

A couple up the street from me have an enormous garden in their yard, which I visited with camera in hand this weekend.

Both gardens will be worth many return trips. There are more pictures here.

Notes

  1. So that there are no misunderstandings: the salvia below and (probably) the geranium above are natives of Europe, not America. Penstemons, however, are indeed from North America and some are native to Kansas.
