  1. Steven, look at the white house right in the center. You can see the traces of fire in the damaged siding. Looks like it was plastic and melted, under the soot that set on it.

  2. The firetrucks were there probably because of the house in the lower picture. Why there were a dozen trucks, plus an ambulance and police cars, I don’t know. The utterly useless Wichita paper has yet to mention the incident. I would guess that they all came because it was a warm, windy day with very low humidity, raising the risk of the fire spreading.

  3. Considering how close together those houses are, and the trees all around, I bet they were afraid that the fire could spread and take out the whole block. They sent that many fire trucks to make sure that didn’t happen.
    Better to overrespond than underrespond, obviously.
