Hungry

I found a small collection of carnivorous plants tucked away inconspicuously in the greenhouse at the botanical garden this morning, including the sundew above. The picture is about twice life-size; right-click on it and open it in a new window to see it much larger.

Here are a few more pictures. All of these, including the sundew photo, were taken with with a 50mm lens, and without a tripod. The zoom I usually use is perhaps a little too convenient for framing pictures. It’s also heavy and slow, and it doesn’t blur the background very well even when it’s wide open. I want to see just how much I can do with a simpler lens.

  1. Carnivorous plants are really pretty awesome. I used to own a Venus Flytrap which I kept on my desk at work. And it did catch flies a few times, which was cool.
