  1. Small portions appeal to a different market segment than those that buy in bulk. A richer segment, which holds it a higher cost to have extra calories in the house which will offset the difference in price for the big package. At a guess.

  2. Could also be selling out (discontinued) larger packages to make room for new (“inflation? what inflation? It’s the same price it’s always been!”) smaller ones.

    Given the massive one-cent discount for using a “please track my shopping habits” card, though, I’ll take the Hanlon’s Razor option.
